Would I Enjoy Reading It?
Well, if you enjoyed the first novel, definitely go ahead and read this one.
If your like me, the first novel wasn’t particularly an interesting read, but you powered though and got to the cliffhanger… and now you don’t know what to do. So HI, I shall tell you about the novel and if it really would be an enjoying read.
- If you found yourself not enjoying the novel because of its genre, I don’t think you should venture forth into the second novel.
- If you found yourself not enjoying the novel because of the pacing, I am here to tell you that it gets a tiny bit faster in the second novel.
But of course the best method to figure out if you would enjoy the novel is through the quotes (At least for me).
Still unsure? Here are some quotes to give you a taste of the magic within “From Blood and Ash”:
Is the Novel Worth Reading?
Let’s hear from you first. If you found yourself saying “yes” to the quotes and the first novel, buckle up and get ready for an unforgettable ride!
Personally, I don’t think this novel is worth reading because I didn’t like the medium pace and the plot developed quite slowly. In FBAA there were many plot twists, however I found that AKOFAF does not have as many, which resulted in the novel feeling slower than intended which made me loose interest.
Notable Aspects of the Novel:
Speed: Medium paced
Spice: 🌶️🌶️
Rating: 3.9⭐️ (My personal rating)
Series Reading Order:
Upon researching the From Blood and Ash world, I have come across the Flesh and Fire series. The Flesh and Fire series takes place in the same world as FBAA series, however, it takes place before Poppy was born. Flesh and Fire series is a prequel to FBAA series. The story line of both series do intertwine a bit, thus, the author recommended to alternate between both series.

My Opinion:
Good news or bad news first? I personally like to begin with bad news, in other words, what I disliked about the novel.
What I disliked:
- I didn’t like the medium pace and the plot developed quite slowly.
- In FBAA there were many plot twists, however I found that AKOFAF does not have as many.
- The LONG chapters.
What I liked:
Although I didn’t like the novel as a whole, there were elements and chapters that I did like.
- The character depictions and how each character was unique and described vividly
- I enjoyed chapter 29 because there was an event that I didn’t see coming, I wouldn’t count it as a plot twist, but it can be considered as one.
- My Favourite chapter was 35, I felt like it was one of the most event packed and fast paced chapter in the series.
- Chapter 40 was also a chapter that I enjoyed.
Honestly, I wouldn’t have read this novel if it wasn’t for the cliff hanger in FBAA, and the same goes for AKOFAF. This novel ended in a cliff hanger as well. If the novel did not end in a cliff hanger, I wouldn’t be reading the rest of the series. It would have ended at this novel.
Conclusion:
A world of secrets that begin to unwind themselves, but at what cost?
The second instillment of From Blood and Ash series, A Kingdom of Flesh and Fire is the deal maker or breaker, two books in and is this series worth the read?
I hope you have already come your own conclusions as I believe it’s important for readers to form their own opinions about the novel and decide whether they would like to read it. Personally, I do believe that the series is getting better, as there are chapters and characters that I absolutely love and have now gotten attached to.
