Still unsure? Here are some quotes from the novel “How to Face Eternity”:
- “My story Begins where some might end: the night I died.”
- “I won’t let anything happen to you. We are bound by blood now. There’s not anyone out there who’s going to lay a finger on you – not over my dead body.”
- “Bound by blood? What does that mean? Does it hold significance?”
“To some, it doesn’t. To me, it does.” - “What do you want me to say? Because I’m an insecure straight male?”
- “Love is an emotion that is only meant to last a human lifetime at most”
Is “How to Face Eternity” Worth Reading?
Let’s hear from you first. If you found yourself saying “yes” to all or the majority of the above, buckle up and get ready for an unforgettable ride!
Short answer: YES!
Personally, I think this novel is definitely worth reading, I typically stay away from slow burn romance novels. However, this novel was refreshing, rather than draining. Long answer below in “My Opinions”.
Notable Aspects of the novel
Speed: Slow paced
Spice: 🌶️
Rating: 5⭐️ (My personal rating)
Series Reading Order:
- How to Face Eternity (Part 1) (Release day June 25 2024)
- In the Face of Eternity (Part 2) (Expected release in 2025)
The two novels should be read in sequence. The second novel is still to come out (and I hope to get my hands on it soon 😄).
My Opinion
“Good news or bad news first? I personally like to begin with bad news, in other words, what I disliked about the novel,” is normally how I would start this section of the review. However, I don’t know what I disliked in this novel, every element flowed well together creating a refreshing and entertaining read.
Disclaimer: I rarely give out five stars so this is a surprise for me too. I also think it’s important to note that I’ve never read a vampire novel before (Unless you count the Mortal Instruments series).
I have nothing but positive opinions on this novel.
What I Liked:
How to Face Eternity is the first vampire novel that I’ve read and I love it! (I’ve tried reading twilight, unfortunately it wasn’t for me).
Good communication: Who hates the miscommunication tropes? Especially when it is dragged through out the novel?
How to Face Eternity had good communication through out the novel, nothing felt dragged out. If emotions were felt, they were talked about and any uncertainty in their relationship was laid bare for the characters to discuss and they did just that.
Characters: I loved the main female (Leanne) and male lead (Riftan), however the side character Jameson definitely was my favourite character, brining in humour and another perspective of Riftan into the picture.
Plot twist: The end plot twist was amazing! I can’t believe I have to wait to read the second novel, I want it in my hands now! The ending left me in shock and anticipation to put it simply (Otherwise I might start a long essay).
Conclusion
This novel is a 5 star read for me and I would recommend you read it. Whilst I wait for the second novel to be released, I can’t wait for you to begin the novel and join the journey.
